"Double dip has been the favorite meme in the press for months now." Correct. Even though it hasn't been in the cards for months. It is looking like even deflation isn't going to happen, either. After listening to the double dip scenario for a year, finally some journalist reported that in the last 100 years only twice has the economy double dipped; that its a fairly rare phenomenon. And with those two times, there were special circumstances that led to the double dip; circumstances that don't exist at the present time. I suspect Americans are some of the most negative people on the planet. They see Armageddon around every corner. Which doesn't mean robust growth. But things are merely miserable instead of disastrous... Exactly. And if people don't stop whining and complaining and get off their fat asses and do something to help the situation, then it will stay miserable indefinitely.
