I'm solar powered. Up until this month, any XS I made over the course of a year was welfare for PG&E, so I never went negative. Tried to keep my overall consumption to a few hundred KWH/year.
We start feed-in tariffs this year; my electricity year starts this month, so I'll be getting paid for my XS over the next year.
The fridge changed me from a consumer to a producer. Made 119 KW in July, 103 in Aug. Somewhere, a coal plant shut down cuz of my production. Or maybe consumed a few pounds less coal, anyway.
