I remember a report that the Friday before the 1980 election, Carter was told there would be a Reagan landslide.

I remember it that way as well, with much of the reason being we didn't have cable news and conservative talk radio to promote such a movement at that time. Fortunately we did have Ronald Reagan. :)

I attended a Reagan rally about a week before his election in 1980, where he ended his speech with "We're going to turn this country around" -- a pledge he followed thru with successfully. Bush41 wasn't inclined to continue the turnaround, and Dole, Bush43 and McCain weren't inclined to reignite it.

What is most frustrating to me is that people like Krauthammer and Rove could not bring themselves to be in the front on talking positive about O'Donnell. It's like they could not wait to knife her.

Get behind your second choice with the intent to get him/her elected. If it doesn't work out, at last the party made the effort.

I have no idea if she will survive the GOP/democrat onslaught, but if she does these two guys will have lost any credibility they ever had regarding our primaries.
