I think that Obama's econ team thought this was a NORMAL severe recession after an averted depression. They missed that due to globalization, America has been shedding jobs left and right for the last decade, and that just about every big corporation had lots of fat they needed to trim. Which they did as the economy collapsed. The jobs are gone, and they're NOT coming back. Obama needs to confront this, and come up with an answer for the 50 million Americans that will NEVER have a decent job. I don't know the answer. FDR created the WPA, to take on huge infrastructure projects like the Hoover dam. We've certainly got crumbling infrastructure that needs repair or replacement. We could use an actual smart electric grid. We could build forests of windmills and plains of solar panels.
