That piece sounds right, but isn't right. Alask doesn't need the feds, we have almost 50 billion in our Permanent fund and infinite amounts of oil, gas and coal and other natural resources.

Politics in Alaska is all about ideology, not federal money. Besides that the feds need people in the state to manage the forests, oceans and defense.

Alaska has a very liberal minority and a sloppy (all sorts of crazy ideas like succession and the ak Indpendence party)conservative majority that the liberals sometimes can beat by out campaigning them or when the right wing runs nut cases.
