Mr. Thompson

You 're welcome.

I have been in the tax business for over 6 yrs now. I have seen numerous brokerage statements while preparing 1040s. In general,it has been my experience that most brokerage companies end up hurting the clients over the long term. The only full service broker that seems to be doing sensible investing with clients goals/suitability in mind (at least more than the others) it is AG Edwards. Again I am speaking in general here. It all comes down to each broker anyway.

If you are educated about investing already or have the TIME to devote into it and learn it's tough to beat a deep discount online broker ( I use National Discount Brokers myself). If not, you could be better served by a reputable fee only CFP. It is true that many of them would not reccomend individual stocks but many do. But don't count on finding ten or five baggers with them which means the excitement level is way down. But you 'll probably achieve your financial goals with them when the road to finding those 5 or 10 baggers could be very treacherous.

All of the above has been strictly my opinion and it's worth exactly as much as you paid for it<g>

George

D Thompson

Something I've not done, but considered doing, is joining an investor's lunch club. That way, I can listen to other's ideas who have no interest in "selling" me on ideas for their own profit. I've talked to old buddies, some, too which helps.

For the most part, find an area you understand, and pick the company that makes the most sense to YOU. I like these message boards, too.

Good hunting. Bob.
