Federal Government jobs have been cushy jobs in terms of salaries for decades.

While I taught school for a pittance---------my university friends were taking the federal government jobs that paid them about three times as much as I made.

Then there were the early retirement benifis. Able to retire in their 50's and go on to a second career in the private sector.

Not surprised by the contrast between pay for federal government jobs and the privatek sector.

Kenneth, you are confused. The wages went up significantly during the last half of the 1990s. It is during the 2000s that wages were/are somewhat stagnant. That unfortunately happens in recessions.
