Nice to have a list of ideas to work from. My reactions:

1. Can already be done in any federal court by anyone affected by a law. An empty gesture.

2. Unless they spell out what "providing economic incentives for achieving reductions in the emissions of carbon dioxide" means, this is just rhetoric.

3. Old idea that never goes anywhere, including under Republican congressional control.

4. Scrap the tax code - good luck getting that through Congress since every lobbyist in town would be screaming to stop it.

5. That kind of duplication and waste rhetoric happens in many administrations. Yawn. Unless Congress de-funds targeted programs, it is meaningless.

6. Doable but unwise in recessions. Of course, Republicans generate deficit stimulus with unpaid-for tax cuts anyway.

7. Won't happen without Republican control of the White House and 60 (probably more) senators, something unknown in the modern era.

8. Energy lobbyists would love this one, could probably pass.

9. Good luck getting Congress to cut off their own hand in the cookie jar.

10. Fiscal insanity, deficits would multiply from current scary projections.

All in all, doesn't add up to much in the real world.

<<< it's my impression that there's nothing yet from the Tea Party that might be called a party platform>>>

Sounds like it would be a good idea to come with something coherent before getting all angry and emotional.

In any case, I hope at the least you could keep us informed of anything resembling a coherent agenda. Too much to ask for from anyone else including some of their most vocal supporters (Palin, Brewer, O'Donnell, Angle, Joe Miller, Ken Buck, Jim De Mint, etc.)

That was an interesting post. There was nothing in it about racism and I kept hearing how the TP people were all racist. Your post makes them look to be focused on fiscal matters (taxes and spending), no racial stuff and not even a focus on social issues - just fiscal responsibility.

>>Tea Party agenda "Contract from America"<<

I agree with number four, and partially with number nine.

Does this mean that I think the Tea Party movement is really OK, and that I've been unfair to it? Not at all. Because I have problems with the rest of the items on the list, with the exception of number one, which would only create a little extra work for Congress, and have no real effect on anything, in my opinion. Moreover, I don't believe this platform would do anything to address the real problems our nation is facing.
