My calculator is of the opinion that we are at or near a 52 week low here. The current price is a bit below the former low expressed as a multiple of the then-current forward estimate.

Averaged down again this am.

No guts no glory.

Regards,

John

The 235 number is for all steppers ie DUV and I-line. Similrly for the 500 annual number. Nikon's target is for 200 units of the DUV machines for the full year to March 1998. However, it looks that this target may not be achieved and the company is tentatively suggesting a 10% shortfall. My guess is that the underperformance may be more than 10%.
The problem on Cymer is not supply of lasers but demand for the DUV systems which use lasers. There has been so much capacity added in IC manufacture (see falling DRAM prices) that capex by the leading IC houses cannot but be cut (see Japanese cos already cutting by 10% and the Koreans much more; demand for semicon production gear has until now been supported by the Taiwanese mainly. This may not last either).
The capacity expansion has been happening when the PC boxes ship well and gobble up more memory pex box. Given the turmoil in the Far East (including Japan) the good old daysfor PC shipments may be coming to an end.
Cymer may be brilliant and unchallenged but this will not help if the above is anywhere near the truth.
Good luck
