GZ, et al. You may want to pick up a copy of "Black Rednecks and White Liberals" by Thomas Sowell. Sowell, who is black, presents a compelling argument that states that the seeds of black ghetto culture originated in northern England / Scotland. The populace of that region settled in the South and spread their wanton habits to their slaves. The blacks of the Caribbean were largely influenced by the work ethic of their ruling class, largely composed of the more educated southern English. The audiobook, which is unabridged, is great to listen to on long trips.
