They talk notebooks and netbooks.
let's assume for a minute there would not be an I Pad.
Would netbooks compete with notebooks - probably to a certain degree but I do not believe netbooks would cannibalize.
I love my little Atom Acer (paid $299 for refurbished model) because it's small and handy. Actually we upgraded (bought) a new desk top.
If there is really back to school demand and students buy a new laptop why would they buy a "device" without keyboard?
Many phones include a camera - do phones cannibalize digital cameras?
Taking pictures with your phone and sending it on is a nice feature and consumers seem to love it but this does not mean it is destroying the market of DC.

And if I Pad is really cannibalizing the notebook why not Apple's I Books? Are only PC notebooks jumping ship and go out and buy I Pad?
Goldman Sucks is on this trip believing tablets will run Intel into the ground.
Speaking of Intel and 22nm - who is supplying litho or is Intel extending current (litho) technology?
Are we going to see "direct write" @ 22nm - not much time left - so the answer probably is no.
