Recently, co-ed dorms with co-ed rooms and unisex bathrooms have made their appearance on campuses nationwide.

Yes, I have seen some of the unisex bathrooms, but the ones I saw were for one occupant at a time, or perhaps an adult and their child. I do not think they are for men and women at the same time, but I could be wrong.

Regarding the co-ed dorms and co-ed rooms, are they compulsory? For example, if a woman refused to accept a male roommate, would she have a choice in the matter, other than withdrawing from school or living off campus?

Regarding Europe, I have vacationed in Crete a couple of times, and the beaches were packed with topless (and sometimes bottomless) women. No one cared. As a guy, I relaxed and enjoyed the view! No complaints here! -g-

But back to my original point, and it's a serious question, why are males and females separated in the restrooms, dorms, changing rooms, and other places where they may expose themselves, in the U.S.?

Personally, I think the separation is a good thing. I would not want guys checking out my wife, my mom, or my sisters.

Likewise, I do not think female sports reporters belong in dressing rooms after a game when the guys are walking around in the buff. I say this because I have spoken to women who definitely did not approve of female reporters being around their naked husbands.

I brought all of up this to point out that if the reasons are valid for separating men and women, why should gays/lesbians be able to shower naked with the guys/gals? Doesn't that violate the same principles?

I would not want a homo taking a shower next to me or living with me for the same reason that I would not want any male taking a shower with my wife or living with her. See my point?

If the military decides that gays/lesbians can see heterosexual guys/gals naked, then it may as well say that men and women must shower together, sleep together, cohabitate together, and expose themselves to each other. Does that make sense?
