I'm reserving judgement on Miller's ag subsidies until I see more details, but one thing is obvious. These inexperienced candidates who vault into the big leagues tend to be unvetted types who don't understand the rules. You have to define yourself, and you have to get all the bad stuff out in the open and put your best spin on it. Otherwise your opponents will be glad to define you.

What galls me is that these people are anti gov until they need something. Miller took subsidies but now that he doesn't need them anymore he doesn't want anyone else to take them.

Murkowski has her negatives, but they're all out in the open. By contrast, the voters barely know Miller and there's plenty of odd stuff when you start digging. Like the time in 2008 where he quit the Republican party in a snit after his attempt to vote out the party chairman failed. This helps explain why Lisa is poaching a small but significant chunk of his Republican voters...

Typically, people with skeletons in their closets didn't run for public office. It seems to have changed in the past few years when it became apparent that supporters of Rs don't care how bad their leaders are.

Sadly, I think Murkowski is killing any chance of McAdams winning.
