Sure all elections are local. But national trends do affect local elections at the margin. That's why if Dems and Reps are only a few points apart, relatively small changes in perceptions can result in a different result.

Right now I would sell Intrade's "Republicans to control House after 2010", which trades at 73%. I don't think the Democrats are at 50% yet, but the trends currently favor them.

That's an interesting nugget of information. I'm surprised that the candidate who is backed by the Tea Party doesn't get all of the Tea Party votes.
