SanDisk's CompactFlash Memory Cards in Ericsson's New MC12 Handheld PC

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 10, 1997--SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ:SNDK -
news) today announced that the new Ericsson MC12, a handheld PC (HPC) product based on the Windows CE
operating system, will use CompactFlash (CFO) memory cards developed by SanDisk. A removable 2 MB
Ericsson-labeled CF card, manufactured by SanDisk, is installed in each Ericsson MC12 sold.

In an industry first, Ericsson has loaded modem software on the CF card, which enables users to quickly access
the system's modem.

CompactFlash memory cards produced by SanDisk use the industry-standard ATA storage interface which is
''plug and play'' in such products as the Ericsson MC12 which uses the Microsoft Windows CE operating
system and has a specific slot to use the CompactFlash memory card. Because of the built-in CF support in
Windows CE, the Ericsson MC12 does not need any special software drivers to install and use CF memory
cards.

Nelson Chan, SanDisk vice president of marketing, said, ''With the MC12 HPC, Ericsson adds more
momentum to the industry trend of computer manufacturers designing CompactFlash card slots in their new
HPCs. Ericsson also has added genuine value to the MC12 by adding the modem software to the CF cards.''

With the pre-installed software, the MC12 works directly with any Ericsson GSM 900/1800/1900 mobile phone
of the 300, 600 or 700 series to store phone numbers. It also offers a software based modem and an instant
operating system recognition interface to Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0. Synchronization with these
operating systems is done via cable or integrated infra-red IRDA port.

SanDisk Corporation, the world's largest supplier of flash data storage products, designs, manufactures and
market industry-standard, solid-state data, image and audio storage products using patented, high density
flash memory and controller technology. SanDisk has strategic alliances with Seagate Technology, Matsushita
Electronic Corp., NEC Corp. [Nasdaq:NIPNY - news] and LG Semicon. Seagate holds a 25 percent equity
stake in SanDisk. SanDisk is based in Sunnyvale, CA. (COMDEX: SanDisk booth, L-1204, Las Vegas

Mike,

Let's not forget that music is stored uncompressed on CDs. With compression, we could get much more time stored per MB of Flash memory.

Regards,

Mauro.
