Investors are driven from the stock but will buy calls to preserve the possible upside. Call options are high after/during a drop, due tothe remaining optimism. When COMS dropped I bought Jan40 calls for $8, $6, $4. - they were priced eventually as low as $2.5 or so.
COMS did reverse, but not until two months worth of heavy call interest expired.
