Hi Jim. Wow, if I were in a slightly depressed mood and read your last post [#msg-26844808], I'd likely change my career path or retire and call it a life well spent. Fortunately, black swans of a positive variety still land at times in the form of industry-wide disruptions that have a net positive effect, hence serve as new sources of motivations to keep on trekkin'. The trick is being able to identify what makes an innovation special and able to penetrate the morass you described, or maybe more to the point, why most erstwhile strokes of genii do not. Don't get me wrong on this. In the main I fully agree with you and often find myself posting similar thoughts, but fortunately I've the ability to dream on, which allows me to snap out of it, even if only momentarily. Perhaps the outcome calculus is about to change on that score in some of the areas we've been collectively (and individually) exploring in this forum for the past dozen years. Only time will tell.
