An analyst specializing in chip making equipment stocks from Deutsche Morgan Grenfell was on CNBC Squawk Box. He presented a convincing explanation as to why currency problems are not a problem, that the chip making industry is growing significantly. That the selloff was irrational and a shoot from the hip.

He did everything but mention Cymer. Very bullish.

Greg,

I didn't feel like replaying the whole post, besides, that's why they're called excerpts. The point was to demonstrate the relevance of the information to the posed question, and show any interested readers where they can find the rest of the story.

As for your additions: Everyone knows that Cymer can meet the demand. The fact that Cymer says that demand remains strong is not the question. But the company has stated that some orders had been pushed out. The question then becomes: is this a "normal" occurrence, or is it a precursor to further unforeseen delays due to difficulties that its customers are having meeting their production forecasts?

I'm hoping that MS is wrong, but I don't know whether they are or not. Does anyone know how shipments of DUV steppers/scanners is progressing. Curly just posted some info for Nikon which indicated that production was on-track for 500 steppers this year.

He also assumed that most of those had Cymer lasers. However, my understanding is that I-line is still quite feasible for non-critical layers, so this assumption may not be valid. Perhaps one of our industry gurus could enlighten us once again.

Right now I'm long (on margin) so I'm hoping good things happen soon.
