I wonder if this news is very signiificant or not...never heard of OpenROUTE Networks.

WESTBORO, Mass., Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- OpenROUTE Networks, Inc., and Ascend Communications, Inc., (Nasdaq: ASND), Alameda, Calif., today jointly announced an agreement in which Ascend will license select software technology from OpenROUTE Networks. Financial terms were not disclosed. OpenROUTE Networks is a wholly owned subsidiary of Proteon, Inc. (Nasdaq: PTON).

According to the terms of the agreement, Ascend will have access to elements of OpenROUTE, the internetworking code that runs across OpenROUTE Networks' line of Internet Access routers. OpenROUTE code, which has been developed for more than a decade, now runs on more than 100,000 installed routers around the world. Other OpenROUTE licensees include Digital Equipment Corp., IBM, Motorola, Teldat, S.A., AT&T Tridom and Racal Data Group.
