Special note re BNVID (which someone here must own or Marty wouldn’t have mentioned it in the weekly wrap-up): I thought the company’s PR this week contained a red flag for experienced investors insofar as it claimed the FDA was bound by the discussion at an end-of-phase-2 meeting. Companies that have made similar assertions have turned out to be scams a high proportion of the time—caveat emptor!

Arena was second on the loser list this week? Thought it hit $0.00, LAST week.

(Thanks, Marty! Go, Rocky!)

10/1/10 Update
The market had its best September since 1939 but in the month’s last week traders seemed somewhat wary of what October would bring.
At Friday’s close, the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 4.48% YTD (vs. up 4.94% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 6.22% YTD (vs. up 7.29% YTD a week ago). The Contest median was up 7.59% YTD (vs. up 7.18% YTD a week ago).
(See my earlier post on the performance of the top five contestant picks through Sep. 30.)
ROCKY’s portfolio (up 35.77% YTD) remained the Contest leader, while FILO's portfolio (up 27.47% YTD) held on to second place. WILDER’s portfolio (up 25.39% YTD) took the third slot.
At Friday's close, an impressive 25 of the 32 Contest portfolios were in the black with 17 of the 32 beating the NBI.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks ranked by % Gained and % Lost for the week (foreign stock prices are not converted to US$ in these two tables).
Have a wonderful weekend biotechies!
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits, greatly appreciated.)
