Maybe then ALL INCOME, (regardless of source), should be taxed at exactly the same, simple, single flat rate... with no loopholes?

If we did that, (thus getting the government COMPLETELY OUT of favoring one group over another with the tax codes, using the tax codes to tilt the economic playing field in one direction or another, 'putting their thumbs on the scales'), I expect that it wouldn't matter any longer if 'Americans knew the difference' or not... because there would be NO DIFFERENCE, the government would not any longer be in the business of saying 'this kind of work is worth more than that kind...'.
