It's time for the truth about the Titanic.

At the crucial "Iceberg dead ahead" moment, the orders were given as "Tiller Orders" but the helmsman panicked and reverted to "Rudder Orders" that he had been trained in. It was only corrected when it was too late.

The Titanic would have still floated for a long time, long enough to save everybody. Bruce Ismay, chairman of the White Star Line, then compounded a large error into one that killed 1500 people. He ordered the ship into slow ahead.

The rest is otherwise per the history books, and the film except that Leonardo DiCaprio really wasn't any good as an artist.

So there you go.
