>If we are being used, "ours is not to reason why" and that's a tradition for which I hope our uniformed services never depart.<

Wake up, why do you think Nixon resorted to only air bombardments of the north near the end of the Vietnam war?

The troops REFUSED to fight that war any longer.
Even killing officers in the process.

So you think the Vietnam war and Iraq war, were just wars not to be questioned.

And you think we should all just do whatever it is our leaders say without question? Isn't that what the Germans and Japanese people did during WWII?? blindly obey their leaders.

Are you aware that we have recently found out that LBJ LIED about the tonkin gulf incident, so he could increase the war effort. 50,000 of our kids killed for a lie; and the destruction fo an entire coutnry.

That sits well with you?

And you like the tradition of not thinking for yourself: "ours is not to reason why".

PS my brother fought in the Viet Nam war and was never the same again after that. And he was a strong person. The war broke him - the things he saw.

<<"war mongering generals"

Now I know you are seriously off your rocker. I grew up as a military "brat", am veteran myself, and my son is a Captain in the Army, recently back from Iraq.

Generals do not want war. Lesser ranks do not want war. "We", however, stand ready to do our country's bidding at risk to our own lives, and with the thought that we are honoring freedom and democracy by so doing.

If we are being used, "ours is not to reason why" and that's a tradition for which I hope our uniformed services never depart.

I have no rage. I am not responding in caps. I said war mongering generals, not enlisted men. I said nothing about enlisted men.

So I would suggest your rage did not allow you to read my post correctly and you are projecting your rage onto me.

Do you think the generals were against the Vietnam war? And the few generals against the Iraq war were fired by bush. They proved to be correct by the way.

And being in the Vietnam war says nothing about the wars validity.

I was never going to fight that war and would have gone to Canada had I been forced to. Just as all good Germans refused to follow Hitler.

I felt the Vietnam war was an immoral war and history has proven me correct.

Exactly what did the Vietnamese do to us to warrant our sending the dogs of hell on them?

"Generals do not want war. Lesser ranks do not want war."

I'm sure some of them don't. But, many DO. What's the point of all the TRAINING if you NEVER GET IN THE GAME?

A lot of 'em are ITCHING to fight! Some get addicted, and go merc after service.

It's not JUST the military. How many presidents have reviewed the troops and thought, "I've just been handed the best set of army little people that anyone EVER had in history!", followed by a smarmy general saying, "Just give the word Mr. President, and we'll reduce the target of your choosing to ashes!" Mr President thinks he can be a WAR PRESIDENT, and get 40 approval points while having fun with the gigantic little army men set!

Put us in coach! We're ready to PLAY!

You are contradicting yourself!
