The battle I see we Americans fighting right now is between our government (us)/democracy and the rich, powerful and large corporations who want to take that power away from us by influencing campaigns, so elected people are beholden to them because of their large campaign contributions and their lobbyists.:

People too often forget that we are first and foremost a democratic/Republic if you prefer (makes no difference) society. So we need to think of the actions of government as our actions as we elect those people to make our decisions. And we can influence them and fire them.

Not so when large corporations make our laws. We have no recourse.

At every level: federal, state, borough/parish or country and city and even neighborhoods and boards and commissions we get to elect people to represent us.

The ability to elect our representatives gives us direct power and say so over our destiny, our manifest destiny.

But when we give that power away to large corporations we lose that power as we have no control over them e.g. the large banks and insurance companies.

<<So you trust the rich and corporations to run your life and write our laws, and be fair to you, more than our democracy?

Um, no. I don't understand the way you interact with people in posts? It seems strange. Maybe I'm not intellectual enough to understand your tangential arguments. Oh well, still enjoy your gold posts!
