Dude.. Charlie Wilson did the right thing in helping the Afghans fight off the Soviets. But, AS I SAID BEFORE, all he did was provide the money to the Pakistani ISI.. THEY did the training and operations.

And the Taliban emerged YEARS AFTER the US pulled all funding.

If you watched that movie, you'll remember at the end that Wilson couldn't get any funds for REBUILDING Afghanistan. And during the '90's US-Pakistani relations fell apart over Pakistan's nuclear program (which was Chinese supported)

In 1983, US intelligence agencies reported that China had transferred a complete nuclear weapon design to Pakistan, along with enough weapons-grade uranium for two nuclear weapons. China also reportedly helped Pakistan operate its Kahuta uranium-enrichment plant.1

The Pakistani nuclear program ramped up in the '90's, leading to their first nuclear test in 1998.

The Taliban emerged in 1994:

I'm sure the US tried at various time to gain some influence with the Taliban (as did the Chinese and other governments pursuing interests there), but the US did not "create" them.
