Might be difficult to get retail involved again this year. They've been selling for months now, pulling money out of equity funds.

And given the tax cuts likely being terminated at the end of the year, it will increase their capital gains taxes on any profits, thereby giving them an incentive to sell before year end.

And given we're coming up on October, which is ofter the most volatile month of the trading year, why would the retail investor want to risk capital buying this market?

As for "retail shorts", I never really thought about the existence of such an animal.. ;0) Short selling is normally a more sophisticated form of investing and I wouldn't put it in the category of "retail".. ;0)
