The Tea Party situation also exists in the Democratic party it looks like. While it is healthy to have such a situation where folks are on a mission of political soul searching, the Democrats can ill afford to advocate a "path of confrontation with the other party" as the Tea party folks are advocating. There is a lot left to be done on the social agenda after the Republicans annihilated social fabric during the years of 2000-2008.
