You can look up the number yourself. No, those cuts wouldn't balance the budget by themselves but they would be a start. Saying cutting this or that program wouldn't balance the budget alone is no excuse to continue wasting money on things the government shouldn't even be doing.

The programs he listed would not be enough to balance the budget, still getting rid of them would save in the neighborhood of $60bil a year. (Assuming you actually cancel all their functions and don't just move them.) That's a start.

But no matter what we do with other spending we need to do something about the growth of entitlements. That's where the real money is.
