Saw last night a news story on a Albuquerque NM television station. Intel has a huge manufacturing facility in Rio Rancho. Story indicated that they would be reassigning 500 - 600 production workers who work in Fab 7 & 9. Those who couldn't be placed at other jobs at the facility would be offered jobs in other states. Given the on going hiring binge and expansion of that facility that was the local angle on the story. It was also reported that fabs currently make flash memory. They will be closed for a year while Intel spends over a billion dollars upgrading the manufacturing facility for next generation flash memory.
