Parenting Tip #4 Set Expectations for your Children
Jump to Comments

It is important to set expectations so your children understand what they need to do. Let them know the night before that Mommy and Daddy are going to be hung over tomorrow morning and that the oldest is going to need to prepare breakfast for the younger children. Also make sure to let the oldest know they need to get to the bus on time because if they miss the bus and the oldest child isn’t old enough to drive Mommy and Daddy are going to be really mad if they miss school.

A good school or more properly a good education is one which prepares the student to enter the world equiped with the knowledge and skills needed to be effective members of society. In 2010 this means they are able to perform competitively and effectively in the global market.

In 2010 this means you have completed at least the basic advanced science and math courses when you graduate from a High School with the intention of University study. In High school math you must have completed Trigonometry and Calculus and the recommendation is to have some statistics or equivalent studies completed as well, with some advanced science and technology courses under your belt. American Colleges have been forced to teach remedial academic courses to American High School graduates before they can enter the same programs their foreign counterparts are studying at the same University.

In order to even qualify for such High school courses you would have completed Algebra 1 by the seventh grade and continued to advance on the normal course of study from there.

In order to qualify for Algebra 1 in the seventh grade you must have mastered general math in elementary school. The normal curriculum in America expects students to still be studying basic math in the eighth grade. Students in advanced math courses in Middle school are considered gifted but that is only true in America.

Students are not prepared to advance and meet these requirements to enter the world as effective performers in a Global economy because they are not prepared by our schools at one level to succeed at the next level. So we water down the curriculum at successive levels of public education.

"This year, the elementary school has decided that it is going to provide breakfasts for the students every day."

Next year maybe the elementary school will help the students shower and get dressed too. <sarc>
