So you think that a substantial...number of economists advocated against stimulus spending Yes. Some arguing against any form of stimulus or anything that resembles stimulus (this would be a relatively small group). Others supporting just "automatic stabilizers" (which in a certain sense are stimulus spending, but are not what most people think of when they hear the term), other supporting tax cuts of various types over spending increases, other supporting monetary action over any fiscal efforts.
