The disturbing part is that news of this nature is no longer shocking or unbelievable. Hell, it's not even news anymore because the corruption is so common and widespread. Nothing "shocks or awes" us anymore, and it hasn't for quite some time. -ng-

I tell many of my friends that each night before I go to sleep, I wonder what new horrors await us tomorrow. Each morning when I awake, I read the news and receive my answers. -ng-
