I have heard the rumor that SBC and ATT never stopped negotiations and are still at the table. I have heard the rumor too of a major announcement by the end of this year. My source is a senior manager.
So basically it is the same thing you have heard.

I wouldn't doubt it (AT&T and SBC still talking). I also heard today on CNBC that there was speculation of something going on between AT&T and GTE. Interesting !!!
