Kenneth, give it up. No one believes the benevolence of the Democratic Congress or Obama. It is apparent they are out for themselves, the public be damned.

Progressive march organized by anti-Semite?
Gatewood refuses comment but says 'you'll hear from me' at 10-2-10 event

Gatewood
An official organizer of Saturday's "10-2-10" march in Washington, D.C., is being accused of racism, anti-Semitism and making anti-patriotic remarks about America.

Rev. Curtis E. Gatewood is listed as the "field director" in charge of organizing Tar Heel participation in the march, according to a North Carolina website promoting 10-2-10.

Gatewood once called Israel a "devilish enterprise," and speculated that President Obama will be assassinated by "Israel/Jews, " "white CEOs" or "poor white racists," says a Los Angeles historian and movie producer.

"When will we unite and have FOX NEWS taken off the air? I do not care if they have a trillion viewers, they are doing everything they can to have President Obama killed," Gatewood once said, according to David Stein, CEO of Nistarim International Media.

The march will be "one of the biggest progressive demonstrations in decades " according to the "One Nation Working Together" official website.

Gatewood, the former president of the Durham, N.C., chapter of the NAACP, was reprimanded by then-NAACP president Kweisi Mfume for incendiary remarks he made after the 9/11 attacks.

Gatewood reportedly denounced "the nation's arrogant calls for blind patriotism, retaliation and hatred," and denied that the terrorist assaults were "an attack on freedom."

"Gatewood has a history of racist, anti-Semitic, and inflammatory statements," said Stein.

"I've rarely seen a man more driven by race," Stein told WND. "Blacks can say one thing [when criticizing Obama] and that's fine. Whites can say the same thing in much softer tones, but that's not fine," Stein said. "Whites are 'bad guys.'" Stein is a former contributor to the Los Angeles Times.

Gatewood has served as the 2nd vice president for the North Carolina NAACP State Conference since 2005, according to his website, curtisgatewood.com.

Gatewood refused to comment to WND on Stein's allegations, and even refused to confirm that he is the NAACP's field director in charge of planning for the march. He did acknowledge that he was busy working on Saturday's march.

"You'll hear from me then," Gatewood told WND.

Stein's website, yesbuthowever.com, has posted a lengthy, detailed list of offensive remarks and actions attributed to Gatewood. He characterizes a 2009 rally organized by Gatewood as an "anti-Semitic hatefest," and cites numerous quotations from Gatewood's Facebook entries and his letters to the editors of various North Carolina newspapers.

Stein noted that in the days before the August "Restoring Honor" rally organized by conservative celebrity Glenn Beck, many national news organizations chose to focus on an allegedly racist blogger who supported Beck.

"Well, this Saturday is the liberal 'alternative' to the Beck event – the NAACP/AFL-CIO co-sponsored 'One Nation Working Together' rally in D.C.," according to Stein. "And guess what? One of the NAACP field directors in charge of the event has said and written things that are so grotesquely racist, anti-Semitic, and inflammatory, they make the 'Beck rally blogger' pale in comparison. "

The 10-2-10 march is being sponsored by several hundred liberal and radical organizations representing labor, race-based, anti-war, environmental, pro-homosexual, pro-illegal immigration and pro-abortion organizations. The list includes ANSWER, NAACP, Rainbow PUSH Coalition, Service Employees International Union, UAW, National Council of La Raza, American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, National Education Association, American Federation of Teachers, Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, Green Party USA, and Planned Parenthood.

Tea Party Coloring Book Publisher Says He's Getting Death Threats

The author-publisher of "The Tea Party Coloring Book for Kids" says he has received death threats over its publication.

Wayne Bell, publisher of Clayton, Mo.-based Really Big Coloring Books, said in an interview with CBS that his $3.59 coloring book is not political. But some critics think the book was designed for politically conservative adults, and not for children.

"We're not really making a political statement," Bell told CBS, adding that his company also publishes coloring books on the Rockettes, Cirque du Soleil and President Obama.

Bell told FoxNews.com on Thursday that his office began receiving "odd" phone calls and e-mails five days after the release of the coloring book on Sept. 5. Bell said he did not report those incidents to authorities.

"We don't want to be overly dramatic about what's happening," Bell said. "We just kind of let it slide."

Bell said he has received messages containing "horrible, nasty, vitriolic stuff," including a desire for someone to place him in a "chloroform headlock" since its publication.

"It was like a crescendo," Bell said of the messages. "We've locked our front door and put a sign on the door that says, 'please knock.'"

St. Louis County Police Department Officer Rick Eckhard confirmed to FoxNews.com that the department did not have an active investigation involving Bell pertaining to the alleged death threats.

Citing a "need" for a Tea Party coloring book, Bell defended the item as appropriate for children ages 2 to 10.

"Yes, it is appropriate," Bell told Fox News. "We test our products on children."

But Michael Davis, a St. Louis-area Coffee Party organizer, told KSDK.com, "I think it's inappropriate. I really question whether it's even targeted at children. There's not a lot of coloring activities."

Bell said the Tea Party book is his company's best-seller by far, with demand so high that new copies must be printed daily to keep up with demand.

"We have sold many thousands," he told CBS. He told KSDK.com that a military branch of the federal government bought 3,000 copies for kids.

The 32-page coloring book teaches children and parents about the origins of the Tea Party -- "A very pleasant song, coloring and activity book on Liberty, Faith, Freedom and so much more!" -- according to the company's website.

"Get involved, participate, self reliance, freedom of choice, work, government-of-for-by the people, Leadership, Ingenuity, Jobs and responsibilty! [sic]"

But critics point out that a passage of the coloring book reads: "When taxes are too high, the high tax takes away jobs and freedom."

Another reads: "In 1773 we had a Tea Party and this led to freedom from high taxes. Today we are having another Tea Party and this will lead to freedom from high taxes again!"

The Incredible Shrinking Democrats

Partisan Trends
For Second Straight Month, Number of Democrats in U.S. Falls to Record Low
Friday, October 01, 2010 Email to a Friend ShareThis.Advertisement
For the second month in a row, the number of Americans who identify themselves as Democrats has fallen to a record low.

In September, 34.6% of American Adults identified themselves as Democrats. That’s down nearly half a percentage point from a month ago, a full percentage point from two months ago, and is the smallest percentage of Democrats ever recorded in nearly eight years of monthly tracking.

At the same time, the number of Republicans slipped from 33.8% in August to 33.1% last month.

The number of Adults not affiliated with either major party is now at 32.3%.

As has been the case in every month over the past eight years of tracking, there are more Democrats than Republicans in the nation. The gap is currently 1.5 percentage points. That’s up from a 1.2-percentage-point gap a month ago. The past two months are the closest the Republicans have been to parity in more than five years - since July 2005.

Things were much better for Democrats heading into the two most recent election cycles. In September 2006, they enjoyed a 4.8-percentage-point advantage. In September 2008, the gap was 5.6 percentage points. See the History of Party Trends from January 2004 to the present.

However, things aren’t quite as rosy for the Republicans as they were in September 2004. Heading into the presidential election that year, the Democrats had a 0.6-percentage-point advantage. That was the best single month ever recorded for the GOP.

Rasmussen Reports tracks this information based on telephone interviews with approximately 15,000 adults per month and has been doing so since November 2002. The margin of error for the full sample is less than one percentage point, with a 95% level of confidence.

(Want a free daily e-mail update ? If it's in the news, it's in our polls). Rasmussen Reports updates are also available on Twitter or Facebook.

Compared to one year ago, the number of Democrats is down three percentage points, and the number of Republicans is up a point.

Compared to September 2008, the number of Democrats is down four percentage points, and the number of Republicans is little changed.

The biggest advantage ever measured for Democrats was 10.1 percentage points in May 2008. In December 2008, the final full month of the Bush administration, the Democrats held an 8.8-percentage-point advantage.

Between November 2004 and 2006, the Democratic advantage in partisan identification grew by 4.5 percentage points. That foreshadowed the Democrats' big gains in the 2006 midterm elections. The gap grew by another 1.5 percentage points between November 2006 and November 2008 leading up to Barack Obama's election.

The number of Democrats peaked at 41.7% in May 2008, and it was nearly as high - at 41.6% - in December 2008. The number of Democrats fell below the 40% mark in March 2009 and first fell below 36% in December of last year. Rasmussen Reports has been tracking this data monthly since November 2002.

Prior to this month’s data, the lowest level of identification with the Democrats has been 35.1%. It was reached twice, in February and May of this year.

For Republicans, the peak was way back in September 2004 at 37.3%. For nearly five years, since late 2005, the number of Republicans has generally stayed between 31% and 34% of the nation’s adults.

Keep in mind that figures reported in this article are for all adults, not likely voters. Republicans are a bit more likely to participate in elections than Democrats.

The president’s approval rating has held fairly steady throughout 2010 as reflected in our month-by-month review. The Republican advantage on the Generic Congressional Ballot also has held steady. Republicans continue to be trusted more than Democrats on most key issues.

The Rasmussen Reports Balance of Power summary shows Republicans are likely to gain seats in the U.S. Senate this November. The same is true in our summary of governor’s races.

Data from our monthly partisan identification survey is used to set weighting targets for other Rasmussen Reports surveys. The targets are based on results from the previous three months.

A new federal mandate to change street signs throughout the country to a specific font and using upper and lowercase instead of just uppercase.

I am concerned that this is pointless busywork that is going to contribute to global warming. It will take a huge amount of energy to manufacture to produce the metal in those signs. That energy will come predominantly from the burning of coal.

do you approve of the federal government creating busywork which is going to pollute our beautiful planet with global warming causing CO2?

Do you think we should have the EPA step in to halt this incredibly damaging pointless activity?
