It was from the beginning a way to force submission. Either you paid a near impossible tax or you converted. City to city fell. There is nothing honorable about honor killings, stoning and disfiguring people for "crimes" against the faith or simply against the Imam. A large portion of the faith wishes to accept only those words of Allah spoken through Muhammad. Those are the Wahabbi. They trick other muslims into their faith by first offering good tidings and agreement, but soon point out that the teachers of whatever sect are using words which Muhammad did not speak or write and the teachings are impure. Then they are introduced to the "true word". That is one way in which they still radicalize muslims around the world, including here in the US. In a way they all remind me of Ted Kaczynski, the Unabomber. They want the world ruled (by them of course) in a stone aged setting.
