No. That's the problem.

I'm actually surprised INTC hasn't taken a bigger hit on this announcement. IMO, this is a much bigger flaw than the FP bug several years ago that took billions off INTC's market cap. But then, spin is everything these days, and perhaps INTC has learned how to weather these things better.

Perhaps someone has already responded to this, but I don't know and wouldn't think so. At least, I haven't heard anything of any "protective environment or mode".
