Sorry for the long absence after my last post here.

Edie & I spent a week staying in our alma mater, State College, PA. We used the Residence Inn there as a base for day trips into what's known as the Pennsylvania Wilds. Most of our time was spent in Elk county & the PA Grand Canyon.

We would leave late in the morning & spend the day thoroughly enjoying the natural beauty our state has to offer. We took our front wheel drive Ford Edge places that should only be traversed by a four wheel drive truck. We would arrive back at our suite in the evening completely exhausted.

We didn't get to see the forests at peak fall foliage. Mostly it was only patches of color & beautiful Appalachian mountain vistas. Still, it was a fantastic week. When I get a chance I'll post a few pics.

Among the notable wildlife we saw was a lynx, elk, bald eagles, whitetail deer, turkey, ruffed grouse, hawks, & a coyote.

On Friday we traveled to Gettysburg, PA for a 2 day tour of the battlefield. We purchased a 3 CD audio tour pack. It made going through the huge area that the 3 day battle took place upon come to life. If you’ve never gone to Gettysburg, I strongly suggest you put it on your bucket list.

Needless to say, when we got home I needed a few days to recover. I’m still feeling the effects this morning, but I’ve got a big smile.

:-)
