Hopefully that one pair of every kind of animal(half of which Noah immediately sacrificed to God) mated quickly and were careful with the offspring. Even the vegetarian animals had to eat meat for awhile but maybe there was some old meat strewn about that was good enough to eat for a few years. Tyrannosaurus and the lions could have found some old carrots. Sometimes after a flood, vegetation gets trapped in shale and also in rotting tree trunks...

The whales could have found some salt to eat and probably wherever land appeared (beginning at the very peak of the mountains), at that location the evaporated water would fall directly back on the dry ground (on the salt) and all the animals could go there to drink alongside of Ham and Sham.

It is also posited by some that God provided Manna for all creatures for 478 days and that is not at all unlikely. Clearly God provided and Noah would not have sacrificed half of all the animals without some sort of food for his family and the remaining animals. Possibly, God preserved all the dead people and animals with the salt flats of the world wide salt ocean. This salt would have covered everything and quite possibly made everything quite suitable for eating. We don't need to know everything. We just need to know that God showed mercy to Noah out of His unbelievable love. Such love makes one weep with humility. Who could ever deserve such a love?? That is right. Not a single solitary person...
