"Calling me passive aggressive, a vague and unsubstantiated allegation..."

Perhaps I could have chosen a better description for your behavior that consists of you pretending to take the high road while making snide personal insults mixed with religious bigotry.

First, I pointed out how you added the "evolutionary" title to an article that has absolutely nothing to do with the topic of this thread which deals specifically and particularly with biological evolution. It was off topic, and out of context but you apparently felt that pasting the word "evolutionary" into the description (even though the word was never mentioned in the article) somehow connected it to this thread. In my opinion that is equivocation in the broad sense of the word. No big deal, but you took great offense.

Not surprisingly you took the first available opportunity to post a quote that was nothing but another one of your typically backhanded personal insults aimed at Christians in general and at me as well .
.........................................
"I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."
Mohandas Gandhi

I responded by noting that "liking Jesus" was irrelevant: that Christians aren't perfect and that our standing before God is not based on our imperfect lives but on the perfection that is exclusively available to all men through faith in the perfect work of Jesus.

You responded:

"Don't take this too personal but your proselytizing hypocrisy is an insufferable bore, thanks just the same."

I shouldn't take your personal insults too personally? Why not: that's the way you meant it.

"Here are the facts. I and others here have demonstrated over the years a fairly adequate knowledge of Christian scripture."

Yea right like Solon who claimed that the story where Job's daughters got him drunk and has sex with him for the express purpose of having children was really a slam dunk example of God "commanding rape in the Bible". Sadly this is is a rather typical visceral response whenever scripture is referenced directly.

Generally the group on this thread can't even get the facts straight never mind the wild interpretations.

"You provide some common and widely known scriptures and label me ignorant (which is false) while pointing to a superior strata of humility upon which you claim to rest your case."

The following response to this line was ignorant and full of anger as well.

<<<He invites us to put our faith not in what we have done...>>>

So you are saying all that running rhetoric and parabolic story telling was just his way of passing time until you could ax him, so's he could get you saved for eternity. I'm sure he appreciates you reporting his teachings to be a huge waste of breath. Whatever floats your boat dude.

I posted Luke 18:9-14 to demonstrate that Jesus did not teach that people can reconciled to God by their own good deeds which is something that you appear to believe. You also seem to think that substitutionary atonement renders all His teachings "a huge waste of breath". Again: that demonstrates that you do not understand the Christian position.

"I am not a religious scholar..."

I was never under the impression that you were.

"Your reference to humility while claiming some grand superiority over myself or others here is the irony we’ve all come to know you by...."

You're simply lying. I have never ever claimed to be superior to anyone. The rest of your point is just an angry rant.

"I have not misrepresented Jesus at all. I have commented on your position which implies how you live and what you do is meaningless as long as you are able to recite John 3:16 or something relative to that."

You don't know enough of the bible to have an informed opinion, yet you trudge on anyway. Try reading it before you criticize it.

"I fully understand the perspective that is Christian. That Jesus is a savior of souls and his story when internalized explains fully the relationship of man to God. I further have no problem with owning that perspective for myself. I do however retain the right to object to religionists claiming authority over me and using scripture to bash me with, especially in such a hypocritical manner."

I see zero evidence that you have an informed perspective on Christian scripture or Christian theology.

"For example let’s take a second look at your attempt. Who on this thread, or more specifically between the two of us, has made the claim of righteousness based on their religious position? I have not, you have."

Again: you show no understanding of the concepts of Repentance, Justification (by faith), Sanctification (a trans-formative process to ward practical righteousness) or Glorification.

"Who do you think Jesus applies that parable to, a person who objects to abusive religious authority like me, or a religious person like you who constantly and boldly makes personal religious claims of superiority?"

First of all you lie when you repeat that charge of claimed superiority and you know it. You already think you know the answer but you're not even asking the right question. The real question everyone needs to ask is this: What do we do with our sin and guilt before a just and holy God?
