No, Flagstaff is up in the mountains and is not in desert. more like alpine forest.

The day before we had similar weather and unconfirmed sightings of funnel clouds in the lower desert. My F-150 got caught out in a hail storm and was damaged by ping-pong and golf ball sized hail stones. The next morning I had trouble reaching my insurance agent as so many others were calling to file claims.

Northern Arizona may get dry and hot seasonally, but much of it is forest land containing the worlds largest continuous stand of Ponderosa pine. We have great ski resorts - dry powder - and super trout fishing.

Yeah, our image is one of cactus and scorpions, but that is only the lower 1/3rd of the state.
