Chuck, who makes the drives that are used in the Overland product? Sure, they sell a DLT product, and add value by adding a shutle mechanism to the basic drive.

I suppose you beleive that McDonald's raises their own beef, too - on Old McDonald's Farm. :)

A tape library is a device that consists of a loader, a reader, etc.
PART of that library device is a Quantum DLT tape drive. Compaq, Sun,
etc, buy that DLT tape drive from Quantum and install it in their
library device... its as simple as that. They don't need a license
to put someone else's component into their system.
