They made a mockery of themselves when they endorsed Brown after the phone conversation became public. Now they have to pretend they are concerned. _______________________________________________________ NOW; CA campaigns should fire aides who use slur By JULIET WILLIAMS Associated Press Writer Oct 13, 2010hosted.ap.org SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- The president of the National Organization for Women says California gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown should fire any campaign aide who uses the word "whore," as one of his aides did recently. NOW President Terry O'Neill also criticized Brown on Wednesday for saying during a debate that the private banter - inadvertently captured on a telephone recorder - is the kind of thing that typically happens in a campaign. O'Neill says the word should not be used in any political discourse. She clarified a NOW news release that referred only to Brown, saying both candidates should fire any aide who uses the word. Brown apologized to Republican Meg Whitman for the comment, which appears to have been made by a female aide in reference to Whitman's effort to win a police union's endorsement. ___________________________________________________________ How To Get The Endorsement Of The National Organization For Women 10/10/2010floppingaces.net You call a woman a whore and you’re guaranteed NOW’s endorsement. Provided you’re a Democrat. It’s worked now for both Jerry Brown an Alan Grayson. A mere day after Jerry Brown referred to Meg Whitman as a whore, NOW endorsed Jerry Brown. Jerry Brown announced he has received the endorsement of the National Organization for Women, less than 24 hours after the emergence of a recorded message in which Brown can be heard in a conversation with advisors in which someone calls Whitman a “whore.” Coincidence? You be the judge. Whitman’s campaign pounced after the audio was made public, sending out a release Thursday night from spokeswoman Sarah Pompei calling the use of the term “an insult to both Meg Whitman and to the women of California. This is an appalling and unforgivable smear against Meg Whitman. At the very least Mr. Brown tacitly approved this despicable slur and he himself may have used the term at least once on this recording.” California NOW President Patty Bellasalma had this to say: “As Governor, Mayor, and Attorney General, Jerry Brown has promoted and defended women’s rights .” And the other shoe fell yesterday. NOW endorsed Alan Grayson A year ago Grayson called Paul Bernanke adviser Linda Robertson a “K Street whore.” Republicans and Democrats slammed Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) for calling Linda Robertson, an adviser to Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke, a “K Street whore” in a month-old radio interview that circulated on Capitol Hill Monday night. Jim Hoft shares with us NOW’s decision to endorse Grayson. The Florida chapter of the National Organization for Women has endorsed incumbent Congressman Democrat Alan Grayson in his reelection race against Republican Daniel Webster. This comes as Grayson has fallen rapidly in the polls since airing a falsified ad in which Grayson stated that his opponent was the equivalent of a terrorist, calling Webster “Taliban Dan.”
