Tilt of the planet and orbit and swarms of other variables such as the reflectivity of land and sea surfaces due to plant, desert, snow and cloud cover have major effects too. If you look back over geological history, you'll see that there's more to it than Earth's spatial situation.

The natural state of Earth at present is ice age with periodic interglacials.

10,000 years seems a long time compared with a round of golf or even a whole human lifetime. But the Little Ice Age was almost within living memory and the process of coming out if it is still in living memory.

The glaciers in New Zealand have been retreating uphill for the last couple of centuries and have continued all through the 20th century.

The Mongolian rampages across Asia were thanks to the pleasant climate they enjoyed from 1000 years ago for a couple of hundred years then it got chilly again and the latitude of excellent climate for humans moved south again, making life tougher in Greenland and across Europe and Asia. Then it moved back north after the Little Ice Age.

Living on the fringes of snow cover is risky and will deteriorate with cooling.

Being ready is a good idea. Depending on an ice-free Arctic circle is not a good investment.
