After looking at Amerindo's web site, I got a kick out of their discription of AVNT: Avant! Corporation Avant! is the fastest growing company in the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) industry. Avant! specializes in the unique needs of the fastest growing part of the EDA industry, deep sub-micron EDA. The electronics industry is in the middle of secular shift from sub-micron to deep sub-micron designs. Avant! is a pure-play on this shift. (From 6/30/97) But to get back to the 6M vs 232K, The 232K looks like it is only part of their technology portfolio. I am assuming they own more AVNT in other portfolios. I'll let you know what I find. JG

Peter, Total Amerindo involvment in AVNT is much more than the reported 232,500 shares in the tech fund. Amerindo acts as investment advisor and has offshore accounts holding AVNT. Total reported holdings on June 23, 1997 (three days before the 232,500 share number you are using) was 6,104,903 expressed as percent is 23.87%. There is no way they got rid of 5,872,403 shares in three days. They are in deep on this stock and are in trouble with it because of their extreme holdings so you can get an idea how agressive they may be at tring to hold the price up. They can trade between accounts to create volume and any price action they want but the underlying value of AVNT is going to hurt them. Coz
