I just posted an article about corps buying their own stock to keep the valuations up. Maybe this is an adjunct to that?

Perhaps that's the way of things now. It's not what a company's actually worth, but just what the stock symbol SEEMS to be worth.

Why not just have symbols that reflect nothing but their own perceived value? Are companies even necessary?
