<Holding a reglaciation at bay would also be considered a good thing by most people, though not land sellers in the Sahara or Outback Australia. >

I don't think most scientists consider that to be an issue, or even possible... it's "long term".

<Science gets a bad name by allowing the likes of Jones, Briffa and Mann and the climate change scamsters like Al Gore and David Suzuki to get away with it. >

That's for sure.... first part. Although "getting away" with anything seems debatable.

OTOH, you have to remember that a lot of those with their ovaries in an uproar also don't believe in evolution or any other science for that matter... so worrying about "which" scientists folks listen to may no be the issue. :))

When some in the press scream and yell about snow in south florida or the latest cold snap as proof there is no Global Warmning it simply allows pseudo-science on the other side to glibbly (and rightly so) these fools and all too often the actual science that may point in that direction. Personally I'd like to see some commentary about the Volatility of the weather and climate... in some systems that portends a reversal... or perhaps a "phase transition" type event.

<They are to real scientists as a weekend with a prostitute is to marriage with children. >

I don't think you're giving due credit ot prostitutes... Actually, both are porbably just doing what they think is right. Not that that is always helpful. :)

Personally, I think if both sides took a 10 year break with some good wine and some friendly women, nature would reveal more truth (ha ha... climate truth too) and heads (and perhaps the planet) would cool. OTOH, if one turned off the TV for 10 years and turned it back on at that time... actual change in any effect on my life would probably be small... so I'm not too worried either way. :)
