Read today that AOL will be putting their software on Sony CDs starting with Michael Bolton and Celine Dion's next records. AOL spokesman said that buyers would be able able to get full experience by listening to CD on their computer and then get info on artists on the net. Pretty pathetic marketing! Now we get their advertising on CDs! One more reason to stay away from these Cds! Still Short and looking better.(AOL to soon face the music)

From Alex Brown

<< VALUATION AND RATING: We place a 12-month target price of $115 on AOL stock which equates to a $15 bb market capitalization arrived at by assuming a $750-1,000 per subscriber multiple of 12.5 mm mid-CY 1998 members plus a 10x multiple of our $500 mm CY 1998 adver-commerce revenues. We maintain our "strong buy" investment rating on AOL stock. >>

From Cowen & Company

<< Excite and Yahoo! maintain considerable traction with users because of the robust and evolving nature of their networks and the quality of their brands. Born with the Internet and nourished by its pace, these companies have built their products and brands without any of the obvious advantages of their large competitors. Microsoft, by virtue of its immense footprint, has a lot of market power as it develops its dot com site. But AOL's critical mass of online consumers are potentially the most valuable media customers in the world. AOL knows how to service them and extract value from them within their proprietary service, and if it can translate this knowledge and its customer base head start to AOL.com, look out. >>

....AOL.com....it may be whole new ball game, and one that AOL is good at.

By the way...from personal experience, AOL is better when accessed thru cable modem...faster is better, wherever you are going on the net...Isn't it logical to assume that AOL will be among the first to have the scale to bring new and interesting forms of broadband content to its members?
