A shocker for me was cajun country in LA. Not only did they speak a weird French dialect but I don't think many have ever been to a dentist. I never noticed people's teeth until that trip. You're right.....its not unlike a northern urban ghetto. However, the air and water are usually cleaner and the people friendlier.
