What is really frustrating though, is that my son is now ordered to Afghanistan, and after reading [most of] Woodward's book, I'm having a difficult time understanding why. Obama cannot bring himself to say he wants to win the war, whatever that is. He has clearly stated, "I want out". And in fact, he'll be drawing troops out in July of next year. So, why the fuck is my son being deployed to hunt for IEDs AFTER July of next year? I don't get it. If we're going to surrender, why in hell should any American be asked to risk his life and make other sacrifices for mere political purposes? GWB would not have done this. I think my son doesn't have a problem with doing what needs to be done, but it almost feels as though the mission is being sabotaged by the president. It is like Obama hasn't even given it any thought outside the political realm. All that matters is political power.
