It looks like the 'NO Id' tech accounts for 1/2 the increased capacity. (2.1->2.7) The GMR buys .6 gig/platter today, and with refinement further gains later. I think that's where the interest lay.

The IBM paper talks about the transition to GMR by the year 2000. So unless they have capacity enough to drive the sweet point to say, 6 gig, this isn't likely to impact the next quater. I found no references to use of platters with higher coercivity- so they are using 'off the shelf' platters?

Not much on details, but at least we know they are still in the game ;-) Going to be a nice buying opportunity here when tax loss selling season starts this year. Praticularly if the street continues to run it down to "hat sizes". My hat size is pretty small, might add a little to my position when the stock quote reaches my size. PE of 2 anyone? H.
